The number of breweries and brew pubs in Colorado is staggering and although time won’t allow us to try them all we’ve signed up at our RV park here in Golden for another week and will do our best. This post will be mostly pictoral,
saving commentary for those places that really stand out for us.
The Hops Grill & Brewery in Lakewood has a good happy hour and great chips & salsa.
The Table Mountain Grill & Cantina is our favorite restaurant in Golden so far. Karen had chicken enchiladas and I had the mahi mahi
fish tacos and a Tommyknocker Brewery (Idaho Springs) Black Powder Oatmeal Stout – very good!
In Boulder, we found a wonderful brew pub, Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery. They have an extensive beer list, including their Java Porter which was outstanding, and the best burger and fries we’ve had in a very long time.
Our next stop was the Twisted Pine Brewing Company where we enjoyed their Big Shot Espresso Stout and even took a bottle home with us.
I got off work early on Wednesday and we had an hour before we were to meet up with Debbie, a high school friend of Karen’s from back in Munich.
We took this opportunity to try out the Denver Beer Co. in downtown Denver. We had their Graham Cracker Porter which I found a little too sweet for a beer. If it was any sweeter it might have made a good root beer.
We met Debbie for a pint at Strange Brewing Company which was close by. Karen and I had the Paint it Black Honey Coffee Stout , which was okay, but nothing special.
After awhile, the brewery owners had a seat at the other end of our table for a “meeting” and thanked us for enjoying their beer. Once the beer was gone the three of us had a good Mexican dinner at one of Debbie’s favorite restaurants nearby.
